What Blessing is Made on Cooked Bulgur?
Question
What blessing is made on cooked bulgur and why? Blessing before eating and after.. Thank you for your help
Answer
Greetings,
The first blessing is "mezonot," and the last blessing is "al hamichya." The reason is that this is the blessing made on a dish prepared from cracked wheat grains, as explained in the Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim 208:2) and in the Mishnah Berurah there. This is also stated regarding bulgur in the book Hazon Ovadiah on blessings (page 183) and in the book Vezot Habracha (page 105).
With blessings,
Hallel Meirs
