Prohibition of Eating Meat in the Week of Tisha B'Av
Question
I am Sephardi and according to my family's tradition, the prohibition of eating meat before Tisha B'Av is during the week in which it falls. This year, 2025, Tisha B'Av falls on a Sunday. Does that mean there is no week in which Tisha B'Av falls? Does that mean I can eat meat except for the seudah hamafseket and Sunday itself?
Answer
Hello and blessings, Indeed, according to all opinions, this year there is no week in which Tisha B'Av falls. However, it is important to note that, halachically, it is difficult to be lenient and eat meat from the beginning of Av, and particularly in Israel, Sephardim should refrain from eating meat from the 2nd of Av. Best wishes, Binyamin Shimueli
