Nimrod smirked at the young Hebrew boy who thought he was wise. "Perhaps he is wise," Nimrod conceded, "but I am the king." With that, he ordered that Abraham be thrown into the fiery furnace. That was when Abraham discovered not only that the Creator of the world truly exists, but that he, Abraham, was chosen by Him to lead him out of Ur of the Chaldees.

We've given up on Pharaoh from the Exodus story, as he refused to understand anything despite all the plagues. But what about his son?

Raised among idolaters, Abraham smashed his father's idols and was cast into a fiery furnace. When he realized there is only one God, he stood alone against the world, paying a hefty price. As his descendants, we are fortunate to be born into a people who uphold and spread this profound truth.
