Are There Demons in the Land of Israel?

Hello,
How is it possible that Ashmedai, the king of demons, entered the Land and led King Solomon astray for three years if demons are not allowed entry into the land?

Hello,
In principle, there can be demons and spirits in the Land of Israel just as there are abroad, but Abaye (a Talmudic sage) decreed that they should never pass through populated areas.
Sources: In the book Knesset Yaakov (pages 124-126), it is demonstrated from several places in the Talmud and Midrash that there are demons even in the Land of Israel. However, as it is indicated in Pesachim (page 191b), Abaye decreed that they should never pass through populated areas. Also see the book Divrei Yitzchak (page 165) in the name of Rabbi Yitzchak Kaduri, of blessed memory.
