Dream about a Cat

Question

Hello to the Hidabroot team. In Rabbi Zamir Cohen's lectures on dreams, he talks about animals and their meanings in dreams. So I wanted to know what it means if I dreamed that I saw a cat and was afraid of the cat at that moment, but for some reason, I went to it and started bothering it and grabbing it by the tail until the cat freaked out and started scratching me and then I woke up.

Answer

Hello. In the Talmud (Berachot 56b), it is explained: Whoever sees a cat in a dream, in a place where the cat is called 'Shunrah,' it represents a good song for him, but in a place where it is called 'Shinra,' it represents a bad change. Thus, due to the uncertainty in your case, it is recommended to go to the synagogue at the morning prayer, and when the Kohanim say the Priestly Blessing, to say the following prayer: Master of the Universe, I am yours and my dreams are yours. I dreamed a dream and I do not know what it is. May it be Your will, Hashem my God and the God of my ancestors, that all my dreams about me and about all of Israel be for good, whether I dreamed about myself or about others, or others dreamed about me. If they are good, strengthen and fortify them, and may they be fulfilled in me and them like the dreams of Joseph the Righteous. And if they need healing, heal them like Hezekiah King of Judah from his illness, and like Miriam the Prophetess from her leprosy, and like Naaman from his leprosy, and like the waters of Mara through Moses our teacher, and the waters of Jericho through Elisha. And just as You transformed the curse of Balaam the Wicked from a curse to a blessing, so too transform all my dreams about me and about all of Israel to good, and protect me, have mercy on me, and be pleased with me. Amen. Good luck - Menashe Israel
