Lighting a Candle for a Righteous Person

AA

Question

I would like to light a candle for a righteous person and I have never done this before. I wanted to know what blessing I should recite and when I should light the candle.

Answer

Greetings and blessings,

It is said that when lighting this candle, one should dedicate it for the elevation of the soul of the righteous individual, for example, "for the elevation of the soul of the righteous [name] son of [father's name], may his merit protect us."

Blessings,

Benjamin Shmuali
