Prayer Before Relations

AA

Question

Hi,

It is known that before the commandment for a man there are many prayers in the books that are good to read beforehand, as well as how to prepare and what to think...

Does a woman also have prayers that are worthwhile to read before? (And which ones?)
And, is there importance to what the woman is thinking?

Thank you very much

Answer

Greetings,

1. It is also good for a woman to recite the prayer of the Ramban before engaging in relations - May it be Your will, Creator of all worlds, righteous in all generations, for the sake of Your great name that comes from the verse "remember us" (Tehillim 106:4) that You give me holy, desirable, fitting, beautiful, rectified, accepted seed, worthy to live and endure without sin and guilt. And may You bless me in Your name and bless my home with male children, and I will know that the tents of my home are in peace and may You draw out from my seed and all my springs from the source of Israel, and purify my body and sanctify my soul and my thoughts and my intellect and my knowledge and all my emotions. And I will strengthen myself, and I will strive, and I will be clothed with Your good, pure, and generous spirit to fulfill Your will and that You fulfill my seed, and it will be built and live and act truthfully and justly, and its vitality will be drawn to a place of its success, and may You prepare all its preparations and delights to complete it to establish it as built, pleasant, graceful, and full of kindness, power, health, courage, strength, firmness, and valor. And have mercy on him in his becoming, and in his growing, and in his clothing, and present him in his completeness and in his status in his existence and in his creation, in his making, in his soul, in his spirit, and in his essence, and in his being. And may there be in him and in none of his limbs not a blemish, not a deficiency, not a harm, not an accident, not an illness, not suffering, not pain, not plague, not sickness, not weakness, and may he lack nothing good all the days of his life. And bless me, I and my home and my seed and the seed of my seed in everything that completes our understanding, our intellect, and our emotions to do all our deeds for Your will, and bless us with blessings from the heavens above and from Your good blessings may the house of Your servant be blessed forever. Amen, forever and ever.

2. There is great importance to what the woman thinks, as it influences the fetus, and as written in the *Kaf HaChaim* (Siman 240, Oth 28) in the name of the *Shevet Musar*, that the woman should think of some pious person so that she will have wise and pious children. This means that she should think of a certain pious individual who performs commandments and good deeds, and who learns day and night, and may it be that there will be many like him in Israel.

Blessings,
