When it comes to physical health, several factors come into play: movement, nutrition, infections, sleep, and substances we apply to or inhale into our bodies. Anything that enters our body and reaches our bloodstream can either promote health or, heaven forbid, cause illness.
Here's a fundamental understanding: health is largely in our hands from a medical standpoint.
It doesn't matter what health or genetic background we were born with or what disturbances we experienced in our childhood. Control is still mostly in our hands.
We can utilize tools available in both natural and conventional medicine to achieve stronger and better health.
The question is whether we manage to meet the goals we set for ourselves.
We decide when to go to bed at night. This is one of the most significant choices for our health. Without enough sleep—and at the right times—our bodies cannot achieve optimal health. The body might get enough vitamins and minerals during the day, but health won't be at its best if it doesn't get sufficient rest at night. Deep healing processes only occur during deep sleep stages. When we sleep at the right times, the body heals itself.
We have control over the food we eat. Nutrition is a straightforward tool for health. Simple nutrition close to us—greens, grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables. The principle is not to overeat, and that's within our control. Every overeating session saps energy the body needs for healing and balance. Energy wasted on digesting unnecessary food is energy needed to expel waste from cells. Most of us eat more than our bodies need, and if we overload our bodies daily, the ability to heal and regenerate decreases. Hence, there's weakness and difficulty in functioning.
Eat less, be healthier. Eating less also means better sleep and improved mental clarity.
We determine how much we move throughout the day. Energy in motion strengthens bones and muscles and pumps blood to the lymph nodes and brain. Lack of movement slows down the potential for healing, metabolism, and the regeneration process, and that's entirely within our control.
