#VALUE!
The Tel Aviv Municipality has approved, to the astonishment and pain of many, the holding of a mass baptism event into Christianity at the Exhibition Grounds, a site operated by a municipal company.
The news of the event, scheduled to take place this coming Shabbat (20th of Kislev, 12/21), has shocked the public. The site where the baptism will be held is operated by "Expo Tel Aviv – The International Convention Center Ltd.", a municipal company owned by the Tel Aviv Municipality.
The organization "Yad L'Achim" sent a strong letter to the Tel Aviv Municipality: "We do not understand how Tel Aviv, known for promoting freedom of religion and opposing ‘religious coercion,’ allows an event by this offensive Christian sect; an event that impacts both the Jewish and liberal character of the city."
The letter further details: "This is a dangerous sect that works to deprive its members of freedom. They are forbidden from donating or receiving blood even in life-threatening situations (we have testimonies of members who died as a result), and they are not allowed to celebrate holidays or birthdays. Members of the sect do not serve in the IDF or any civilian service, and according to the sect’s doctrine, the time of the Jewish people is over and they deserve all the world’s suffering. It is no surprise that it has been banned in several dozen countries, and intelligence reports from other countries have harshly criticized it."
Yad L'Achim states: "We are confident that the reasons detailed in the letter will lead the Tel Aviv Municipality to exercise common sense and cancel the approval given for the baptism – a symbolic event that confirms the official membership of unsuspecting citizens caught in its net. We are certain that all city residents, regardless of their political views, will understand the danger and demand the event’s cancellation."
