Heroic Newlyweds Rescue Babies from Fire During Honeymoon

A couple named David Scquillante and Doran Smith from Britain never expected their Barcelona honeymoon to take such a dramatic turn. "We anticipated our trip to be filled with lifelong memories, but we didn't expect one memory to stand out so significantly," they said.

The day started unremarkably as they decided to explore the city by bus, finishing with a guided park tour.

Their day took a sudden dramatic twist when they heard a woman's screams from a nearby building. "Suddenly, we saw flames coming from the entrance, and several frightened women ran out into the street," Doran recounted to a local TV station. "I immediately told David, 'Oh my God, there's a fire.' And David sprang into action."

David entered the building to discover a shocking scene. "I found myself looking at 15-20 babies sleeping in tiny cribs and on mattresses." It turned out the fire had started in a building serving as a home daycare. "We lined everyone up, started grabbing the kids, putting them into rolling cribs, and wheeling them outside."

Fortunately, the flames hadn't yet reached the room with the babies, allowing David and Doran time to roll all the cribs outside safely. "Local people realized there was a fire and joined the rescue effort. We didn't understand a word they were saying to us, but in those moments, we shared a universal language because we were all trying to help."

Once the babies were safely evacuated and the danger was over, the couple continued their tour as planned, though they couldn't shake what had just happened. "It felt like we were watching a movie; it didn't feel real."
