It is permissible for a husband to be present in the delivery room while his wife is giving birth, in order to ensure that everything is conducted correctly, as well as to strengthen her spirit and encourage her heart. This is especially true when he sees that she is very sensitive and is overcome with fear and anxiety as she experiences contractions and labor pains; in such cases, his presence is most necessary. However, he is not allowed to look at her at the moment of delivery; instead, he should turn his face to the side (Taharas Habayis, Part 2, Section 12, Paragraph 28).
