Is it permissible to eat doves?

I heard there is a custom for the bride and groom to eat doves. Is it permitted? Thank you

A dove is a kosher bird and is permitted to be eaten (this matter is mentioned in the book "HaNesu'in KeHalachah" Chapter 12, Note 238, that it is customary to serve the bride and groom two cooked doves, one male and one female).
