What is the difference between wisdom, understanding, and knowledge?
Question
Hello, esteemed Rabbi!!! In the blessing of *Chonen HaDa'at*, it is written: "Grant us wisdom, understanding, and knowledge." My question is what is the difference between wisdom, understanding, and knowledge? (I would appreciate it if you could explain in all aspects) Thank you in advance for your response.
Answer
Hello, I will answer briefly:
Wisdom - this is the very essence of the simple perception of everything in the mind.
Understanding - this is the comprehension of one thing from another and the ability to make inferences between things - the deep and internal reality that lies within everything.
Knowledge - this is the ability to see a complete picture of many details and to grasp the significance of everything even if it is not explicitly stated and to bring it into practice.
(Knowledge is everywhere considered a connection of wisdom and understanding; a person is considered wise when they connect between heaven and earth).
