Immersion on the Eve of Tisha B'Av

AA

Question

Shalom,

What should one do if the immersion day at the mikvah falls on the eve of the 9th of Av? This is very important to me as we have been trying to conceive for a few months, and I don’t want to miss ovulation.

Thank you.

Answer

Shalom and blessings,

It is not possible to immerse on the eve of Tisha B'Av, as it is strictly forbidden to engage in marital relations. All Mikvaot are closed during this time. It is advised to perform tests as usual and immerse after the conclusion of Tisha B'Av.

May it be that, with your proper observance of the laws of mourning for the destruction [of the Temple], you will merit to have a viable pregnancy soon.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
