Two IDF soldiers were lightly wounded this morning (Tuesday) in a stabbing attack at the entrance to Ateret in the Binyamin region. The attacker was shot and killed by troops on the scene. According to medical teams, the soldiers were conscious and suffered superficial injuries before being evacuated to the hospital.

The IDF said the incident began after a report of a suspicious individual near Ateret. “Following a report of a suspicious individual near the community of Ateret in the Binyamin Brigade, IDF forces rushed to the scene. During the inspection of the suspect, he began stabbing the troops, who responded with gunfire and killed him,” the military said.

In response, the army imposed a closure on the Arura area and set up roadblocks across nearby villages as troops from the Binyamin Brigade began searching the area. Additional forces were dispatched to reinforce the area as well.

According to local authorities, an alert resident played a key role in preventing a more serious attack. The sequence began around 7:15 a.m., when the Binyamin Regional Council’s emergency center received a report about a suspicious man carrying a bag near the entrance to Ateret. Operators alerted a military force while the community’s operations room tracked the suspect on security cameras as he approached from the direction of Beit Rima.

Binyamin Council head and Yesha Council chairman Yisrael Gantz praised the quick response. “Thanks to the vigilance of our residents, a much larger attack was prevented. I want to commend the alert resident who reported the suspect… and the heroic IDF fighters who closed in and eliminated him,” he said. Gantz added his support for the security forces: “I express my support for the Binyamin Brigade, Central Command chief Avi Blot, and Defense Minister Israel Katz in their fight against terror. We expect the operation to continue at full strength throughout Judea and Samaria.”

Medical teams from Magen David Adom said both wounded soldiers were treated on-site before evacuation. “We arrived quickly at the scene and saw two young men walking around fully conscious, with superficial injuries. We provided initial medical treatment and evacuated them in MDA ambulances in light condition; the terrorist had been killed.”

The morning attack follows a string of recent security incidents. Overnight, a terrorist in the Chevron area rammed his vehicle into a female IDF soldier, injuring her before fleeing. Security forces launched a large manhunt, located the attacker hours later, and shot him after he attempted to run over additional troops.
