A 4-year-old girl and her mom went out for a casual lunch at a Burger King in New York and were appalled by what they found. Tiffany Floyd recounted to the New York Post that she ordered a kids' meal for her daughter. "Suddenly she says, 'Mom, I don't want ketchup.' I took a look, thinking they messed up again, and then I saw blood all over her burger, inside the wrapper, on her toys, everywhere," said Floyd.
Floyd noticed her own meal was tainted with blood too. She called the company, and the manager told her the cook had cut his hand and bled on their food. "He apologized and assured me they'd make it right," Floyd added.
The shocked mom contacted their pediatrician, who warned her she would have to wait 30 days to test her daughter’s blood to determine any health issues, followed by annual check-ups. Floyd commented to local media, "If only they forced him to get tested, my daughter wouldn't need blood work." She filed a report with Niagara County's health department and the local health inspector, saying, "He spoke with the same manager who mentioned someone cut their finger but didn’t think he was bleeding that much."
The company stated they would cover Floyd and her daughter’s medical expenses. "We told Burger King that medical bills alone aren't enough. Our daughter hasn't eaten since it happened and is experiencing anxiety. She needs broader professional help," Floyd noted.
Burger King responded saying, "We were upset and concerned to learn about this incident. We've been in contact with the guest and are working with her to resolve the issue. This incident occurred due to a staff member cutting his finger. Once noticed, he immediately stepped away. We closed the restaurant to retrain all team members and hired an external company for a thorough cleanup."
