Can the Oil Remaining on the Eighth Day of Chanukah be Discarded?

If oil remains on the eighth day of Chanukah from what was needed for the required lighting duration - specifically in cases where the candles were lit but extinguished within half an hour of lighting - one should not use this oil for mundane purposes. Instead, one should make a separate fire and burn it, because it was designated for its mitzvah.

If one explicitly stipulated when placing the oil and wicks in the Chanukah lights that if the lights go out even within half an hour, one may benefit from them, then one may be lenient and there is no need to burn what remains on the eighth day [Yalkut Yosef Siman 677].
