Daily Halacha – Should One Who Doesn't Enjoy the Fragrance of Spices Before Him Still Recite a Blessing?

Essential halachic guidance on blessing requirements and proper Havdalah procedure

AA

Should one who doesn't enjoy the fragrance of spices before him still recite a blessing?

If one does not enjoy the fragrance of the spices before him, whether because his nose is stuffed or because he does not like their smell, he should not recite a blessing over them even though these spices are pleasant to most people [Yalkut Yosef p. 450].

Is it preferable for the one performing Havdalah to fulfill the obligation for everyone or for each person to recite their own blessing?

It is preferable for the one performing Havdalah to intend to fulfill the obligation for all listeners, as "the glory of the King is in a multitude of people" [Shulchan Aruch].
