How should multiple homeowners staying together handle Shabbat candle lighting?
When several homeowners are staying together, such as a son-in-law in his father-in-law's home or a son in his father's home, they are not permitted to recite blessings over candle lighting in the same location since one may not make a blessing over additional light. Therefore, only the woman who lights first should recite the blessing, and the others should have in mind to fulfill their obligation through her blessing.
If one woman has lit candles in one of the rooms of the house, all other rooms in the apartment are exempt, and one is not permitted to recite a blessing in another room unless they have a room specifically designated for their exclusive use [Yalkut Yosef, p. 54].
