If someone eats watermelon or melon, do they need to wash their hands?
Someone who eats summer fruits like watermelon or melon does not need to wash hands, even though the fruits are wet, because they are wet only from fruit juices [Yalkut Yosef 158].
Does a person who drinks water when not thirsty, to cool their body, need to make a blessing?
Someone who drinks water not out of thirst, such as drinking to prevent dehydration or to cool down, does not make a blessing, neither before nor after the drink. However, for other beverages besides water, a blessing is made because the palate benefits [Yalkut Yosef, Siman 204].
