You might not have heard about this drink yet, but its health benefits have been recognized for years among enthusiasts of holistic medicine from India.

Raisins are packed with excellent antioxidants that help the liver function properly and cleanse the colon of accumulated waste.

In traditional Indian medicine, this drink is called 'Kishmish,' and Indian experts recommend adding it to your daily diet because it "fuels the body with amazing health benefits, improves heart health, boosts the immune system, and protects the liver from toxins," according to a recent study.

An Indian nutritionist named Kavita Devgan shared her 'secret' to raisin water on her website and wrote that for two cups of water and 150 grams of raisins, she also adds lemon.

"After you drink this beverage, you'll thank me," she assures her readers. "Place the raisins with the water in a pot, boil and soak them overnight. In the morning, strain the water, reheat it on a low flame, add a bit of lemon, and drink it on an empty stomach. Wait half an hour before consuming any food or drink, and drink it regularly to see results."

Her recipe and recommendation quickly went viral, with hundreds of users expressing interest and commenting.

"Drinking raisin water will help you eliminate all harmful toxins from your body," she writes. "This drink improves the liver's biochemical process and helps cleanse your blood. If you suffer from stomach acidity, then drinking raisin water is an excellent solution for you because it regulates stomach acid. Since the onset of COVID-19, I recommend many of my patients drink raisin water to strengthen their immune system and keep the virus away," she concludes.
