If as children a sweet cookie did the trick every time you were in tears, today research shows that true mood improvement doesn't come from sweet or processed foods, but from healthier choices. So no, creamy ice cream won't be on today's list, but you might be pleasantly surprised by what is. Ready?
1. Chocolate
Let's start with something that'll bring a smile to your face—chocolate. Studies have found that eating dark chocolate positively influences mood by releasing endorphins in the brain, leading to a direct boost in mood. Additionally, dark chocolate neutralizes various stress hormones in the body, automatically reducing anxiety levels. The current recommendation is to consume 2-3 pieces along with a balanced diet.

2. Spinach
We hesitated whether to include it separately in the list, but so many studies have been written about this green that we just couldn't ignore it. Yes, spinach might not be everyone's cup of tea, and you might have never tried to incorporate it into your kitchen. On the other hand, how about learning something new and gaining a good mood in the process? Spinach is rich in folic acid, which helps reduce substances that disrupt blood flow in the body. As a result of consuming the folic acid in spinach, oxygen levels in the blood increase, thereby boosting general energy in the body.

3. Fruits and Vegetables
In this section, there's no need to ask "what's the connection." Besides being rich in minerals, vitamins, and various antioxidants, fruits and vegetables have been shown to influence serotonin production in the brain and mood improvement. They balance the body and increase energy levels, with effects lasting even beyond 24 hours. Worth it, right?

4. Water
Yes, yes, you read that right. Have you checked how much you really drink lately? Has winter adversely affected your daily water intake to the point that you reach evening and discover you've drunk very little water, if at all? If so, that's really unfortunate, and you should start carrying a bottle with you. Water is the simplest and most available energy booster in nature. Don't believe it? Try drinking several glasses of water a day and see the difference.

5. Honey
It's sweet, sweet, and yet very different from white sugar, not only in health benefits but also in its direct impact on mood. While white sugar might give you an illusion of a mood lift for a few minutes (followed by a disappointing crash including fatigue), honey changes the game. When mixed into a hot mug of herbal tea, honey can reduce anxiety. It's even recommended to drink in the evening before bed for overall body relaxation. Ready to try?
