Have a cold? If you're not a fan of the chemical medications sold in pharmacies and prefer to stick with "grandma's remedies," here are eight natural solutions considered the "antibiotics of nature."
The first and most popular type is, of course, garlic - which you can also take as a precaution to prevent diseases, infections, and viruses before they develop in your body. It is advisable to consume at least one fresh clove of garlic daily, or at least two when it comes to colds and other winter illnesses. Studies have shown that garlic is also beneficial in cases of headaches and dizziness caused by colds.
The second on the list of natural antibiotics is horseradish, which among other things, helps improve blood circulation and cleanse it of infections and bacteria.
Eucalyptus is also considered one of the better natural solutions for alleviating cold symptoms, fever, and headaches. During the flu, it is good to inhale it through steam (a bowl of warm water with a few drops of eucalyptus oil, a wet towel over the head while inhaling the steam).
Next on the list is apple cider vinegar, which is especially recommended during a cold accompanied by a sore throat and cough because the malic acid in it is known to "specialize" in eliminating bacteria and infections.
Similarly, grape seed extract can be used, but it should be consumed diluted with a little water.
On the same principle as garlic, you can also consume onion, which has identical properties to garlic and greatly helps with colds and coughs. One of the more effective natural remedies for coughs is chopped onion left in a quarter cup of honey for an hour. Drinking the resulting liquid from mixing the two is a wonderful recipe against coughs.
Continuing with the list, we also mention ginger, a remarkable root in itself, whose unique properties are good for curing a variety of ailments - from stomach aches to infections and various flu symptoms.
