Is there a preference to buy hand-spun threads?
It is proper to be stringent and have tzitzit that are hand-spun, where before the spinning they declared it was for the sake of the mitzvah of tzitzit. However, one who purchases machine-made tzitzit has authorities upon whom to rely [based on Yechaveh Da'at 1, 14].
Where should the hole in the corner of the garment be located?
The most correct placement is to make the hole at the fifth centimeter from the edge of the garment. If the garment tears to less than three and a half centimeters, the tzitzit becomes invalid.
