1. Wake Up with the Sun
Forget the alarm clock and start listening to your body and nature. When you go to sleep, don't close the blinds completely. In the morning, the sun's rays entering your room will awaken you with a gentle touch. A natural and relaxed awakening helps the body begin the morning on the right foot.
2. Be Organized
This is a relatively simple tip but works wonders. It's hard enough to wake up in the morning without adding extra tasks that create stress. The evening before, choose your clothes and your children's clothes, and prepare sandwiches for everyone's lunch. Also, don't go to bed while the house is messy. At least tidy up the workspaces – the floor, table, and countertop. When the living room and kitchen are shiny, it's pleasant to wake up in the morning.
3. Maintain Proper Sleep Hours
Appropriate sleep hours are very important. Research suggests 7-9 hours of sleep, with women needing more hours than men. Lack of sleep negatively affects the body. To ensure a much better morning, aim for at least seven continuous hours of sleep.
It's not enough to sleep sufficient hours; make an effort for quality sleep. Before sleeping, try to relax with deep breaths, count the good things that happened during the day, and say thank you to Hashem for another day granted in His mercy.
4. Get Up Immediately, but Gently
Are you awake? Get up! There's no point in sleeping for 'just five more minutes' and creating additional difficulty in waking up afterward. When you wake up, get up, but gently. Allow your body to adjust from sleep to wakefulness, get up and stretch.
5. Drink Water
The ideal drink for a body awakening from sleep is water. Nutrition experts recommend drinking five glasses of water within the first two hours of the morning, even before any food enters the body. Struggling to drink five glasses? Start with two, and you'll notice the difference. The body is fresh, vital, and starts the new day on the right foot.
6. Eat Breakfast
Make sure to put something in your body by 9:00 AM. You can eat breakfast later, but make sure to eat something, even if small, before 9:00 AM. This is called 'Pat Shacharit' and has many health benefits. It's highly recommended to practice this.
7. Don't Leave the House in a Hurry
Do everything to leave the house calmly. If you want to remember everything and ensure your children go satisfied to their schools, wake up earlier and be organized to leave five minutes before the time you need to leave. This way, you'll all make it on time, and use the remaining five minutes for a short Shacharit prayer that the forthcoming day goes well.
