What is the proper order for putting on shoes?
One should first put on the right shoe without tying it, then put on the left shoe and tie it, and then return to tie the right shoe. If wearing shoes without laces, one should put on the right shoe first.
When removing shoes, one should remove the left shoe first. However, if removing shoes for a mitzvah, such as for the Priestly Blessing, one should remove the right shoe first [Shulchan Aruch 2, 4-5].
If one wakes up in the morning and needs to use the bathroom, must they wash their hands first?
One who is stringent upon themselves to wash their hands immediately upon rising from bed will be blessed.
However, according to the basic law, a person is permitted to go and relieve themselves before washing their hands, and after relieving themselves, they should wash their hands and recite the blessing [Yalkut Yosef Siman 4].
