Concerning: What Happens to Your Body If You Eat Just One Doughnut a Day During Chanukah?

#VALUE!

Chanukah hasn't arrived yet, but it seems most of us couldn't resist and have already tasted a doughnut or two, or many more... Despite our love for doughnuts, it's important to remind ourselves of the risks of even one doughnut. A regular jelly doughnut, not to mention all the additional toppings (candies, dulce de leche, chocolate, and more), contains an 'endless treasure' of calories, fat, and sugar.

Even if we momentarily set aside the issue of white flour and its harmful effects, we cannot ignore the damaging consequences of that innocent-looking jelly doughnut.

A doughnut is rightfully named. It absorbs all the oil like a sponge. During the holiday, we say 'A great miracle happened here,' but it's uncertain if this miracle continues in terms of health, when you overload your stomach with so many fats in so few days. Moreover, the industrially produced doughnuts sold in stores are the most dangerous and harmful, as they are 'immersed and have impurity in their hands'—often these doughnuts are soaked in a sea of oil that was unfortunately left sitting or wasn't replaced, and multiple doughnuts were fried in it.

Still hard for you to give up? Try this experiment: put a doughnut in a bowl full of water and wait for about an hour. The longer the doughnut stays in the water, the more it will swell—this simulates the processes it will undergo in your stomach. And if that doesn't convince you that you really shouldn't eat a doughnut every day during the holiday (they all taste the same), then we truly can't help you.

What happens to your body if you eat a doughnut a day for all eight days of the holiday? These are just some of the side effects you might experience: headaches, abdominal bloating, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, dumping syndrome, low blood pressure, rapid heart palpitations, increased irritability, and more.

Think of it this way: If you can't resist the sweet temptation, at least choose a small doughnut without any filling at all—much less harmful than its regular jelly-filled counterpart.
