Is it permissible to purchase the Four Species from a minor?
Ideally, one should not purchase the Four Species from a minor who has not reached the age of mitzvot. This is especially important regarding the willow branches, as the minor may have picked them from his father's tree or someone else's tree without properly acquiring them. However, if the minor is merely acting as a messenger, it is permissible to purchase from him [Yalkut Yosef Section 658, Chazon Ovadia page 309].
Is a father obligated to purchase the Four Species for his young son?
If a minor knows how to shake the lulav, his father is obligated to purchase the Four Species for him [Yalkut Yosef Section 657, Chazon Ovadia Sukkot page 405].
