Daily Halacha - Laws of Yom Kippur, 10th of Tishrei 5778

Essential laws for the holiest day of the Jewish calendar

What is the order of Havdalah at the conclusion of Yom Kippur?

At the conclusion of Yom Kippur, we do not bless over the candle unless one has a candle that was lit from the eve of Yom Kippur until the end of Yom Kippur. When Yom Kippur falls on Shabbat, although it is preferable to take a candle that rested (on Shabbat), it is not essential (Chazon Ovadia p. 384).

We do not bless over spices at the conclusion of Yom Kippur, even when Yom Kippur falls on Shabbat. Nevertheless, it is good that after tasting from the cup, spices should be brought to him and he should bless over them (Chazon Ovadia p. 384).
