AA

If a doctor determines that a sick person must eat, how should they consume less than the prohibited amount?

A sick person who is permitted to eat less than the prohibited amount should be given thirty grams of bread with accompaniment prepared beforehand, and should wait nine minutes between each portion.

Regarding drinking, an average person should measure approximately forty grams of liquid, with each person following their own specific "cheek-full" measurement. They should drink every nine minutes.

A sick person who was permitted to eat and consumed the full amount should recite the Grace After Meals with the addition of "Ya'aleh Ve'yavo."
