Silica: The Strengthening Mineral You Didn't Know About

When people see dry and rough skin in the mirror, they often think a cream will help. But this type of external treatment is not a true solution. Meet silica, the mineral found in cucumbers, which strengthens the body's connective tissues - tendons and ligaments - as well as skin and nails.

In my previous article, I mentioned the mineral silica found in cucumbers. The minerals we are usually familiar with are iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, but this important mineral is not well-known, which is why I chose to dedicate this article to it. Silica, or by its Hebrew name, tzuran, is essential for strengthening and supporting the integrity of the body's connective tissue. Connective tissue includes various types of cells, such as collagen cells, whose role is to provide protection, support, and connection between different organs in the body, such as tendons and ligaments. Within the bones are connective tissues that hold the bone tissue and glue it to ensure the bone maintains its shape. Connective tissue is also the source material for skin, hair, and nails, highlighting silica's importance in producing smooth, shiny skin, shiny hair, maintaining beautiful and strong nails, which are especially unbreakable. In light of these facts, one of the tools for treating hair loss is to increase silica consumption. Indeed, in herbal formulas intended for treating hair loss, this mineral is often found.

Given these insights, a lack of silica can be one of the explanations for dry and dull hair, aging skin, brittle nails, rough skin, and more. Sometimes when people look at themselves in the mirror and see dry and rough skin, they think of a cream. However, it must be understood that this type of external treatment is not a real solution to the problem. It is a treatment limited to the time until the cream is absorbed and disappears. One must think of a deep solution that suggests if there is a skin problem such as dryness or roughness, there is likely a deficiency in the body that needs to be addressed, or there is a problem absorbing essential materials for body health. The correct solution is to strengthen the silica level in the diet.

Where can silica be found in food? Well, as mentioned, in cucumbers. But it is mainly found in very high quantities in oats and in smaller quantities (in descending order) in millet, barley, potatoes, and whole wheat. It is therefore highly recommended to consume oatmeal. Silica is found in very high quantities in a plant called horsetail. Horsetail can be found in natural shampoos based on this plant, and it can also be found in capsules containing it.
