Essential guidelines for preparing for the Jewish New Year according to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's rulings

What is the proper procedure for placing the Eruv?
When placing the Eruv on the eve of the holiday, one should recite the blessing: "Blessed are You, Hashem, our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us concerning the mitzvah of Eruv", and then conclude: "Through this Eruv, it shall be permissible for us to bake, cook, kindle lights, and perform all our needs from the holiday to Shabbat". [With this Eruv, it will be permitted for us to bake, cook, light candles, and do all our needs from the holiday to Shabbat]. Ideally, one should understand what they are saying, and if one does not understand Aramaic or Hebrew, they should recite the above text in a language they understand.
It is good for one's wife to be present when placing the Eruv.
