One of the fruits beginning to sprout leaves these days is the fig. The fig is not only delicious but also highly nutritious. It contains minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron. Furthermore, it is high in dietary fiber, which significantly enhances digestive activity and is especially useful in cases of constipation. The fruit is very effective in situations of weakness, fatigue, and especially during recovery from illnesses and in cases of anemia.
In addition, figs positively affect blood pressure due to the generous amount of potassium they contain. Due to their sweetness, individuals suffering from diabetes or those on the brink should consult a healthcare provider. Fresh figs can be eaten as they are, but dried figs should be soaked in water for about 10 to 12 hours before consumption; this also applies to other dried fruits. Afterwards, the water can be drunk and the fruit consumed. In this way, the fig resembles the fresh fruit, making it easier for the digestive system to handle this concentrated food.
Figs are best eaten as a standalone serving or with foods considered sweet or tart (ensure they are free of worms). Examples of such foods: sweet - dates, raisins, bananas, persimmons, pears; tart - apples, loquats, prickly pears, peaches, apricots, cherimoyas, papayas, mangoes, avocados, guavas, feijoas, raspberries, cherries, quinces, pineapples, and passion fruit. Figs can also be paired with nuts and almonds, which should also be soaked to ease digestion. These combinations can be a protein meal, with figs paired with fruits and almonds or nuts (delicious and filling, from experience). From the right combinations, one can make a fruit salad with cinnamon and natural apple juice.
The fruit shake is particularly delicious. How is it prepared? First, soak figs in water overnight. In the morning, transfer the contents to a blender. Add an apple or pear, banana, avocado, and dates, with some water, and you have a very tasty shake, especially with the addition of cinnamon, almonds, or nuts.
