The Wonders of Beets: The Cleansing Vegetable

Beets play many significant roles, including cleansing the body. Beyond their versatile uses, here are some additional recommendations.

One of the foods frequently found on many tables is the beet. Beets were already mentioned in one of my articles regarding their assistance in relieving constipation. However, beyond that, beets are among the most beneficial foods for overall body cleansing. In various workshops on detoxifying the body and liver, or in juice workshops, beets are one of the main ingredients. Beets contain many vitamins and minerals, with one of the standout components being "betaine." This is where the scientific name BETA VULGARIS originates. Betaine has a crucial role in liver function and detoxification, as well as dissolving fats and reducing fat deposits, thereby preventing arteriosclerosis and artery blockage.

Beets can also help balance blood pressure because they contain substances that dilate blood vessels, reducing pressure on them. Studies have found beets are one of the best sources of lutein and zeaxanthin, which aid eye health. Research also showed daily consumption of beet juice improved blood flow to the brain, helping prevent brain degeneration that can lead to memory and cognitive impairments. Additionally, it has been found that beets can reduce the growth of various cancer cells. However, those who are prone to producing kidney stones or gallstones should avoid eating excessive beets because they contain oxalic acid, which contributes to stone formation. Other foods containing oxalic acid include eggplants, spinach, tomatoes, cocoa, and more. Sensitivity can be diagnosed through iridology by examining the eyes.

Various Uses of Beets: The well-known use of beets is cooking them and serving them chopped and seasoned. In this regard, it is worth noting: it is advisable not to peel or cook beets before boiling them, as some of their qualities leave and transfer to the cooking water unless the beet water is consumed (very tasty). Also, it is advisable not to cook the beets for too long, as heating damages the various components' quality. Beets can be eaten raw in salads, and I recommend the following combination: beets, carrots, kohlrabi, a bit of onion, and for dressing, drizzle some olive oil. Beets can also be combined with other vegetables for baking in the oven. One recommended way to use beets for body cleansing is to prepare beet juice with carrots and an apple (you can replace the apple with a celery stalk). Some even recommend starting the morning with a glass of such vegetable juice on an empty stomach.
