Nature's Butter

Avocado is not just one of the most loved fruits, but also one of the healthiest and most nutritious.

One of the fruits particularly loved by many people is the avocado. This fruit can currently be found on the shelves of various supermarkets, and it holds a place of honor in many families' kitchens. Avocados come in different varieties, mainly appearing in winter and spring, and it is advisable to eat them in their season.

The value of out-of-season avocados is lower. Beyond its pleasant taste, the avocado has many qualities. Avocado is a fatty fruit with significant nutritional value. It contains healthy fats with properties that help prevent cholesterol, oxidation processes, and heart diseases, making it suitable for those prone to developing heart conditions. It contains a relatively small amount of proteins but is high in various vitamins, including Vitamin C, A, E and others. It's noteworthy that Vitamin E serves as a powerful antioxidant, protecting against the formation of toxins in the body, radiation damage, and more. It also contains various minerals such as potassium and magnesium, which are essential for heart health and more.

Since avocado is rich in fats, making it a very rich and heavy food, it is advisable not to eat it during a meal containing other fats and proteins. Instead, it is highly recommended to include it in a vegetable or fruit salad and meals containing starches. The recommended amount for a generally healthy person per day is between 100 to 200 grams. This is, of course, when consuming avocado with vegetables or fruits separately from other fatty and protein-rich foods that are too hard on digestion. This is also why the amount should be limited for people suffering from diseases of the bile ducts, liver, digestive tract such as: stomach ulcers, colitis, and diarrhea, meaning not to burden the digestive system, which is already having difficulties.

Avocados have various uses that are familiar to everyone. However, I would like to suggest an additional use for avocado. When you crave something sweet between meals, instead of automatically reaching for a snack or cake, you can easily prepare a fruit salad including avocado, which can serve as a truly sweet and nutritious snack and sometimes even a meal itself. Suitable fruits to combine with avocado are: bananas, apples, pears, peaches, dates, raisins, mangoes, and more. Various combinations can be made, all of which are very tasty and nutritious. You can blend one of the combinations with cinnamon to make a thick and delicious puree that can serve as a successful pudding. They can also be frozen to turn into tasty ice cream in the summer, which is preferable to the familiar ice creams and popsicles.

Finally, it is important to note that when buying avocado, make sure it is not rotten. The indicator is when both the skin and flesh are black, which means they are rotten, and it is best to avoid eating them. Additionally, cut the avocado very close to the time of eating because once opened, it begins to oxidize and spoil, or sprinkle lemon juice on it to preserve it.
