Is it permissible to appoint a ba'al teshuva (returnee to Judaism) as a prayer leader during the High Holidays?

It is permissible to appoint someone who is a ba'al teshuva as a permanent prayer leader, even if in his youth he had a bad reputation as a secular person who intentionally desecrated Shabbat and committed other transgressions. This is allowed even during the Ten Days of Repentance, as nothing stands in the way of repentance [Yalkut Yosef Siman 53].

If a ba'al teshuva wants to dispose of devices used for inappropriate content, is it permissible to sell them to others?

A ba'al teshuva who has in his possession a video device or cell phone used for inappropriate content, or a television, should not sell them to another Jew, unless there is doubt whether the buyer will use them for forbidden purposes or perhaps only for permitted uses, and also only if the buyer has the possibility to purchase the device elsewhere. [Yalkut Yosef Siman 318].
