Essential guidance on marriage laws from Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's rulings

AA

Should Tachanun be recited in the Mincha prayer before a wedding when the groom is present?

According to the strict law, a groom is not considered a groom until the time of the chuppah. Nevertheless, our custom is not to recite Tachanun during the Mincha prayer closest to the chuppah, especially when praying with his friends and companions [Yabia Omer 3, 9].

Is it permissible to take photographs before the wedding?

It is proper and correct that the bride and groom should not go for photo sessions on the wedding day out of concern for inappropriate closeness. Additionally, they should not waste this precious time but rather engage in repentance and acts of kindness [Yalkut Yosef p. 105].
