Is there an obligation to separate boys and girls in a classroom?
Mixing boys and girls in one classroom is forbidden according to the law, and there is no room for leniency in this matter even for children, and all the more so for adults. Those who establish mixed learning environments have no basis upon which to rely [Yabia Omer 10, 23].
Is there an obligation to separate men and women at events?
One must separate men and women at events, especially if there is dancing. Even if the hall is divided into two separate sections with a mixed area, it is not permissible as it assists in transgression [Responsa of the Rishon LeZion 2, p. 402].
