In what circumstances must a traveler recite the Traveler's Prayer?
A person setting out on a journey must recite the Traveler's Prayer. However, one concludes with Hashem's name only when traveling from one city to another, and when the journey covers the distance of a parsa, which is one hour and twelve minutes [seventy-two minutes].
Even if there are settlements and communities along the way, if one travels on an intercity road for an hour and twelve minutes, one should recite the blessing. Similarly, if the combined travel time of the journey and return on the same day equals a parsa, one should recite the blessing with Hashem's name, even if half the distance was traveled in the morning and half at night [Yalkut Yosef Siman 110].
