Do we recite an after-blessing on eating ice cream?
One who eats cold ice cream with a spoon is considered like someone drinking beverages, since they do not chew the ice cream as is typical with food, and therefore does not recite an after-blessing. This is because one inevitably takes longer than the time it takes to drink a revi'it (approximately 86ml). This applies all the more so to someone who drinks a beverage containing crushed ice pieces during the intense heat of summer days, consuming it intermittently - they do not recite an after-blessing if they took longer than the time it takes to drink a revi'it [Yabia Omer 5:18]
Do we recite a blessing on ice cream during a meal?
Ideally, one should not eat ice cream during a meal or at its conclusion, but rather save it for after Birkat Hamazon (Grace After Meals), at which point one should recite "Shehakol" in order to avoid halachic dispute [Yalkut Yosef Siman 177]
