What is preferable to study on the night of Shavuot?

The widespread custom throughout all Jewish communities is to stay awake the entire night of Shavuot and engage in Torah study until dawn.

It is good to be mindful of the words of our Kabbalistic sages, and to study on Shavuot night the tikkun that was established and arranged according to the Zohar and Kabbalists, which is printed in the book "Kriei Moed" for Shavuot, in a group setting, and to prefer this study order over learning Talmud and halachic authorities. Nevertheless, scholars and yeshiva students who deeply desire to engage in Talmud study on this night with diligence and persistence should not be prevented, as they have sources to rely upon. Some have the custom to study Rambam's Sefer HaMitzvot. And if the majority of the congregation is reading the tikkun, it is not appropriate for individuals to separate from them and study Talmud or Rambam [Yalkut Yosef, Section 494].
