Is it permitted to remove bones from fish?
It is permitted to remove bones from fish on Shabbat, and it is not considered as separating waste from food, since this is done in the normal course of eating. However, bones that have already been separated from fish or meat on the plate should not be removed from the plate but rather left on the side of the plate [Chazon Ovadia 4, p. 196].
Is it permitted to peel fruits or vegetables on Shabbat?
It is permitted to peel garlic, onions, pomegranates, other fruits, or eggs on Shabbat by hand or with a knife if one intends to eat them immediately, and this is not considered separating waste from food since this is the normal way of eating. However, one should not peel them to save for another meal or for later use.
