Matan asks: "If the world is made of water inside, then where do volcanoes come from?"

Hello and blessings,
The world is not made of water, but within it there is a molten, fiery core, and from there comes the lava that erupts in volcanoes.
We bless God as the One who “spreads out the earth upon the waters,” meaning that He created the land out of the water and keeps the earth whole. In the six days of Creation, God raised up the dry land from within the waters (before that, it was hidden beneath the sea). Even after Creation, God continually upholds the dry land so that it does not collapse back into the waters.

Today we know that the earth is made up of tectonic plates, like pieces of a puzzle, constantly shifting over the earth’s molten and fiery core. Even the slightest movement of these plates can cause devastating earthquakes and deadly tsunamis. At every single moment, God keeps our ground steady above the molten lava, as if it were a small boat on a stormy sea, with God Himself as its Captain.
