How Can the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Be Resolved? A Torah Perspective

Discover the deeper spiritual roots of the Israeli-Arab conflict and how Jewish teachings propose a path to true peace and redemption

According to Torah perspective, is it possible to resolve the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians? If so, how?

* * *

This conflict is not merely political or territorial, but is decreed in Heaven, not on Earth.

Less than a century ago, it was the Nazis in Germany who persecuted us. Today, Germany is considered an “ally” of Israel.
In earlier times, our enemies were the Romans, before them the Greeks, earlier still the Persians, the Babylonians, and even the Egyptians. Today it is Iran, a distant country, that threatens us. Previously it was Iraq.

Nations come and go, but Someone is pulling the strings of history. It is God who determines our destiny. We have enemies because we have strayed from keeping the Torah and mitzvot. This is explicitly stated in the Torah, in the section of blessings and curses (Parshat Bechukotai and Ki Tavo):

  • When Israel follows God's commandments, we merit security and peace.

  • When Israel sins, we face conflict and persecution from the nations.

The purpose of this suffering is not punishment for its own sake, but to awaken Israel to its divine mission for which the world was created: to draw close to God through Torah observance.

The more we learn Torah and fulfill the mitzvot, the more we will overcome our enemies, and those who seek to harm us will lose both the ability and the desire to do so.

With God's help, the Jewish people will soon reach their complete redemption, return to Him wholeheartedly, and we will merit true peace.
