The Role of Non-Jews in the World: Understanding the Seven Noahide Laws and Divine Justice

What Judaism teaches about the purpose of gentiles, the destiny of righteous Christians and Muslims, and why deeds determine closeness to God

AA

What is the purpose of non-Jews in this world? What will happen to a gentile who keeps the Seven Noahide Laws? What about a Christian or Muslim who was devout and thought he was doing God’s will? What about a jihadist who believed he was serving the Creator? Isn’t it racism that they don’t have the right to be the chosen people?

The purpose of non-Jews is to live good lives and to keep the Seven Noahide Laws. A gentile who fulfills these seven commandments merits a share in the World to Come (on his level as a gentile, and he will be happy as such), and the righteous among the nations will also rise at the Resurrection of the Dead. Both Christians and Muslims can be good people and keep the Seven Noahide Laws.

The Noahide Laws are rooted in basic human reason and are present in every person’s heart at all times. Even a Nazi knew deep down that his conscience did not justify killing and murder; Nazis and terrorists act against their natural good and upright heart.

Of course, God examines the heart and inner thoughts and judges every individual fairly, according to his trials and his knowledge. Each case is judged on its own.

Every non-Jew has the possibility of joining the chosen people, if he accepts upon himself the Torah and the commandments. Then his portion will be with the Jewish people. Everything depends on deeds, not on race. King David himself was a descendant of Ruth the Moabite, who converted and chose to join the Jewish people.

As for the question of how every person in the world can reach the truth – it depends on his search and his desire. God guides every person according to his will and request. One who truly seeks the truth will eventually arrive at Judaism. It is not by chance that the Torah is the most published and well-known book in the world. Everyone has the opportunity to access the truth and to know the Torah.
