Why Judaism Is the True Religion: Logical and Historical Proofs of Torah’s Authenticity

The unique evidence that sets Judaism apart from Christianity and Islam, based on national testimony, and thousands of years of unbroken tradition

Yoni asks: "Hello, I’d like to know how I can prove to a friend that the God spoken of in Judaism is the true One. He does not deny belief in a Creator, but he looks for proofs in all religions, claiming that a person’s happiness is his religion, and that all religions — according to him, have only destroyed the world."

Shalom and blessings,

Abraham our forefather, was the first to oppose all the idolatrous religions of the world, because he saw the falsehood and deception in them. Christianity and Islam are also imitations of Judaism, and therefore they do not properly represent the true will of the Creator.

One who searches for the true “Manufacturer’s instructions” and finds the true faith will undoubtedly find happiness. Once we conclude that there is a Creator of the universe, finding the truth is remarkably simple as it rests on pure logic.

99.999% of religions in the world place at their center gods, spirits, and idols with bodies, desires, and rivalries who supposedly created and manage the world. From science we know that the universe was created, which means it must have a Creator who is not subject to matter and time. If He is not subject to space or matter, He has no boundaries — He is infinite and indivisible.

We also know that all physical matter is made of the same substance (atoms) and all interacts in a unified system. This proves there are no competing gods of good and evil and no opposing forces. From this it is clear that the One who created the universe is a single Creator, without partners, without body or form. This already eliminates 99.999% of world religions.

Only three religions claim belief in one God without body or form: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Christianity and Islam came after Judaism and are based on it. Both Christians and Muslims accept the Jewish account of the Exodus and the revelation at Sinai.

Therefore, Jewish history must be true (even according to the other two religions), because while Christianity and Islam admit the truth of Jewish history, Judaism does not admit the truth of theirs. Christians believe in Moses and the prophets of Israel, but Jews do not recognize Jesus or Muhammad as prophets who spoke to God. Thus, the probability that Judaism is true stands at 100%, while Christianity and Islam collapse under scrutiny.

The Creator who designed the human body and universe with such wisdom would never deliver His Torah in a way that any individual could simply invent or fabricate. There are countless people with mental illnesses who claim God, spirits, or aliens spoke to them. Clearly, an intelligent Creator would not build a universal faith on the word of one man in a cave.

That is exactly why both Christianity and Islam fall away at once as each rests on the testimony of a single individual who claimed divine revelation.

Judaism, however, uniquely claims a national revelation witnessed by an entire people: the Exodus from Egypt, the Ten Plagues, the splitting of the Red Sea, the revelation at Sinai, forty years in the desert, the miraculous conquest of the Land of Israel, and more. It is the only faith that stands the test of both history and reason, because it alone claims that God revealed His Torah publicly to an entire nation. From this, Judaism is proven 100% true without doubt.

We know the Torah is true because it preserves thousands of years of faithful history recording God’s control of nature and history — from the plagues of Egypt, to the splitting of the sea, to prophecies fulfilled over millennia, and above all, the national revelation at Sinai witnessed by all of Israel.

Our ancestors preserved this truth with their lives in every generation. We do not believe in the Exodus just because “it is written,” but because our forefathers transmitted it as our national history for 3,300 years. The Torah is therefore a historical national testimony that cannot be denied. Denying it is like denying the Holocaust which is irrational and dishonest.

If an entire nation transmits events generation after generation, celebrating them with national holidays and rituals, rationally it cannot be false. The Jewish people have observed Sukkot for thousands of years — leaving their homes for a week to live in huts. They have observed Pesach for thousands of years by avoiding all leaven and eating only matzah, retelling the Exodus story to their children. No rational person can deny such history.

Israel is the only nation that received the Creator’s “instructions” face-to-face, as a people, with open miracles and divine revelation. No other religion or Torah has influenced the world as much. The very survival of the Jewish people proves divine providence. Unlike any other nation, we have endured centuries of persecution, exile, and genocide, yet survived without army or land, while ancient empires disappeared. Against all odds, we returned to our land after 2,000 years, exactly as foretold in prophecy.

There are countless reasons to believe in the Torah’s truth. No other religion even comes close to its historical authenticity and miraculous endurance. The foundations of faith are well explained in our great works, such as the Kuzari and Duties of the Heart.
