Last Thursday, a dedication ceremony was held in Jerusalem for Paraguay's new embassy, attended by Paraguay's President Santiago Peña and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar.
This is the fifth embassy opened in the city.
Paraguay now joins the United States, Guatemala, Kosovo, and Honduras, which already have embassies in Jerusalem. While most international embassies are situated in Tel Aviv, there are a few consulates in Jerusalem.
During his visit, President Peña addressed the Knesset in the presence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In his remarks, he touched on the issue of rising global antisemitism, stating that the opening of the embassy is a significant step against it. "The opening of the embassy in Jerusalem is a beating heart of our friendship. In response to any display of antisemitism, every person in Paraguay will say 'I am Jewish,'" he concluded warmly.
