Arrived at the Wedding and Discovered: The Bride Doesn't Exist

Deepak Kumar, 24, from the village of Mandiali in Punjab, India, became the talk of social media in his country after his wedding turned into an especially embarrassing event. He and his family, along with 150 guests, arrived in the city of Moga to celebrate his marriage to Manpreet Kaur – a woman he had corresponded with for over three years but never met face-to-face.

The wedding, originally planned for December 2, was postponed to December 6 at the bride's request, who claimed her father was ill. However, on the day of the event, when the guests arrived at the designated location, they discovered there was no sign of the bride or her family. Attempts to contact Manpreet failed, and it was later revealed that her phone was turned off.

Deepak, who experienced severe humiliation, revealed that he had transferred about 50,000 rupees (approximately 2,100 shekels) to Manpreet for wedding preparations. But when he and his family tried to locate the promised event hall, they found it did not exist.

The family turned to the local police, and Deputy Inspector Rajinder Singh confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. "We are checking the details and the conversations between the two," he noted, adding that Manpreet's phone number is the only clue.

The event went viral on social media, with many users criticizing Deepak's naivety. One wrote: "In the digital age, how can you trust someone you've never met so easily?"

Whether it was a planned scheme or an emotional scam, it is clear that Deepak and his family experienced an event that will not be forgotten soon.
