Unconventional celebrations: Jewish billionaire Bill Ackman, chairman of one of the world's largest hedge funds, decided to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah at age 58 in a unique manner. Instead of a lavish event, Ackman chose to honor Jewish tradition by laying tefillin in his office.
Ackman is one of the leading figures in the financial market with a net worth of over 9 billion dollars. Over the weekend, before Yom Kippur, he prayed and recited the Shema while laying tefillin, guided by Yossi Farro, a Chabad Hasid.
Farro shared his feelings about the event on his Twitter account, writing: "Congratulations on your Bar Mitzvah! It was a pleasure to lay tefillin with Bill Ackman, one of the world's renowned leaders and a proud Jew."
Ackman is known as a major benefactor in the Jewish community, especially since the start of the war. He has become an active voice in the fight against antisemitism. During the gathering, he mentioned that his late father, Larry Ackman, always encouraged him to take initiative on the matter.
Ackman concluded the event by laying tefillin, emphasizing that he decided to do so for the victims affected by the massacre.
