Yesterday afternoon, on Ami Maimon's program on Kol Barama, a listener requested a public donation to purchase tefillin for his 70-year-old father. The father had never worn tefillin, but recently decided to start.
Maimon, the program host, responded to the moving request, published the son's phone number, and within minutes, dozens of people offered their contributions. In less than an hour, to everyone's surprise, a pair of exquisite tefillin and a new tallit, housed in new covers, were placed on the father's living room table. In a conversation that took place afterward, the excited son said: "Unbelievable, but Dad wore tefillin for the first time yesterday after 70 years."
